What Tools Do I Need To Follow This Course?

To follow the handstand drills and conditioning you just need yourself and a yoga mat!

The yoga mat is completely optional. Whether you are flexible or not, a couple of yoga blocks wouldn't hurt. They can be useful for the conditioning for press handstand, but again these are optional.

For free standing handstands if you have a fear of handstands and no spotter - you could find a crash mat helpful.

The pole handstands of course will require a pole. So if you want to try those and you haven't got access to a studio, you will need to look at buying a pole for your home.

A Quick Overview Of The Course

As soon as you log in to your course dashboard you can see your 12 week training plan outlined. Each phase has on average a 4 week duration.

This might vary from person to person and I wouldn't recommend rushing forward! Your handstands will be so much better if you take the time to master the foundations and basics.

All the videos you need for each phase are available to either watch online, or download to follow offline. That is handy in those remote areas and areas with a bit of a signal blackout.

The training plan itself is not complicated, it's very easy to follow. It has made a huge difference in my shoulder engagement in handstands. They are easier to hold and more stable than they have ever been!

The Warm Up

There are two warm up videos in your dashboard. The first is a detailed instructional version with great cues. If you struggle to remember without straining to look at the video, I would stick with this version.

If you get fed up of hearing the same instructions and you no longer need them, there is a music only version too.

As a personal tip, I prefer to mute videos once I have the gist and keep them playing alongside for reference. That way you can play your own music. Whatever takes your mood on the day!

The warm up itself is very thorough. It's especially good for mobilising your upper body to prepare for handstand training.

You'll find clear instructions to guide you with proper form. This means you will minimise your risk of strain or injury. You'll feel less fatigued during training too!

If you are more of a visual learner, you will also be able to view each exercise from lots of angles. This will help you to see exactly what to do.

Handstand Fundamentals

After the warm up you move on to conditioning and drills. Each phase of your 12 week plan has a set of drills and conditioning that are skill level appropriate.

As you progress, you can move on to the next level of training when you are ready. Charlotte will take you through everything, step by step.

The handstand drills included in this course will allow you to progress safely. You'll build strong foundations for your handstands. This means your body will become familiar with the correct technique to help you hold your handstand for days!

how to handstand - master the basics

There are important spotting techniques for working with a partner. You'll also find ways to safely bail from an overbalanced handstand.

Not only that, but you'll also find pole handstands suitable for the level you are working at. From beginner to advanced, there is something for everyone.

There is even a special bonus handstand split that is featured in Charlotte's winning elite performance at the UK Professional Pole Championships! How cool is that?

I watched this live in 2015 and was awestruck, so if you haven't seen it yet... you're welcome!

Answering Your Questions

The course also comes with bonus footage of a live Q&A session. Here you will find answers to all the top questions about handstands.

In this section, Charlotte & Holly go through lots of questions to troubleshoot individual issues you may have.

These range from how to overcome a fear of handstands, to tackling wrist pain, balance issues and more!

Wrapping It Up

Following this course has taken my handstand training to the next level, which is super exciting!

I'm feeling way more engagement in my shoulders. I'm holding them for longer each time. That's all because I finally know HOW to properly activate the muscles used in a handstand.

It has totally transformed my handstands both on and off the pole. They are more sturdy and stable than ever - I even started training back flipping into them last week! Ahh!

The training involved in practising handstands is a whole body workout. It will take your pole training to the next level as well.

I truly believe it could do the same for you, so if you're in, all you need to do is click here to get your hands on your personal 12 week training plan.

If you're an Instagram follower, you can jump in on my mid-month challenge. Why not try a different pole handstand a day for handstand February?

You can follow me here, and if you try any of these variations don't forget to use hashtag #LPKHandstandFeb

To finish, I thought I would leave you with something that I thought summed everything up perfectly;

"Believe in yourself! It's really easy to get disheartened with handstands because they do take a long time to get into and learn.

There's so much to think about and so much to learn. But if it's something that you really want to achieve and you're consistent with your training, then you will do it! So believe in yourself!" - Charlotte Robertson
